You do a job for one of them in May: an office cleaned overnight, a canteen kitchen supplied, a bin lorry repaired, a dockyard pump overhauled. You send the bill on 30-day terms. These are ten of the biggest outsourcing, facilities and waste companies by the money they paid their suppliers in their latest reports to the government, one company per group, including Babcock’s Devonport dockyard. Each dot is your 6 May bill, paid on that company’s own average.

From their own reports
Each company’s own latest report, one company per group: where a group has more than one reporting company, the row shows the one that paid its suppliers the most. For Babcock, that is Devonport Royal Dockyard Limited. Serco Limited, Capita Business Services Ltd, Veolia ES (UK) Limited, Suez Recycling and Recovery UK Ltd, CBRE Managed Services Limited and Jones Lang LaSalle Services Limited: 1 January to 30 June 2026. Devonport Royal Dockyard Limited, Compass Contract Services (U.K.) Limited and Biffa Waste Services Limited: 1 October 2025 to 31 March 2026. Sodexo Limited: 1 March to 31 August 2026. All ten reports cover six months. “Late” is each company’s own figure for bills not paid within the agreed terms. Of the 3,269 companies that reported figures for January to June 2026, as read on 20 October 2026, the middle one pays in 32 days, on average.
