Nine days after it is due. And nearly two bills in three, later than agreed.

That is the average. The bigger number is this one: in its latest report to the government, 64% of its bills were not paid within the time it had agreed. Nearly two in three.

In its report for the winter of 2022 to 2023, it was fewer than one in five. It has not been under 39% since. The last two reports: 57%, then 64%.

Crest Nicholson PLC, 1 November 2025 to 30 April 2026: an average of 39 days to pay; 38% of invoices paid within 30 days; 64% not paid within the agreed terms. Of the £254m it paid in those six months, £139m was paid later than agreed. Its stated terms for subcontractors: 34 days from a valid application, plus two days for the bank transfer. The share paid late in its last seven reports: 18%, 39%, 45%, 43%, 39%, 57%, 64%.
